Each horse receives a basic external clinical examination and an in-depth oral examination using a dental speculum and specialised light and mirror. This allows complete assessment of the oral cavity (including gums, tongue, hard palate and of course the teeth) ensuring nothing is missed!
A thorough explanation of findings, and where required, recommended treatment options are included with every routine visit.
Once the examination is complete, a tailored performance float is undertaken. This includes contouring of the teeth to ensure maximal comfort to the horse when ridden and eating. This could include removal of sharp points, hooks, ridges or correction of ramps, tall teeth or waves. Treatment for other abnormalities found during examination may be undertaken or planned for another day.
In ridden horses, a bit seat is recommended. This entails contouring of the second pre-molars to ensure optimal comfort when a bit is being used.
Routine visits include sedation and a dental chart for each horse, which outlines all findings and treatment provided during the visit. Every gelding or stallion will receive a free sheath clean.
We take responsibility for your horse's dental needs. We'll notify you via email or message when each horse is due for it's next check-up, so you don't have to think about it.
